Elias Halabi is a freelance photographer and art exhibitor, specialized in Socio-Arts focused photography based out of Bethlehem, Palestine.
Halabi forged a skillful lens for socio-cultural interpretation by securing a B.A. in Sociology/Psychology from Bethlehem University from September 2002 to December 2006.
By 2009, during a series of International presentations, Halabi began to find his signature artistic voice when he realized the language of images and sight were more effective than the limitations of speech. Consequently, 2009 also marked the year Halabi’s raw, refined and fresh imagery came into demand by Palestinian local and international media journals, hailing him the eyes and voice of his nation. It was during this time, the Palestinian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities (MOTA) swiftly secured a contract with Halabi: exclusively exhibiting his work as visual cultural representations in exhibitions in Milan, Poland, Paris, Madrid, London, Jordan etc.
In 2011, Halabi’s skillful lens gained the attention and award of the UNWTO (United Nations World Tourism Organization) Vettor Giusti Tourism Award Poster Competition 2011-2013. This provided a platform for Halabi to show more of his work, capturing and freezing first hand moments; highlighting some of the hidden and overlooked treasures of Palestine and its people. In November 2011, Halabi earned a Professional Diploma in “Management and Preservation of Artistic Cultural Heritage in the Near East”, Universita degli Studi del Piemonte Orientale ‘Amedeo Avogadro’- Vercelli/ Italy.
During the last few years, Halabi’s photos have made their way to local and international exhibitions, magazines, websites and books. Working with a number of organizations, NGO’s, Ministries and consulates, Halabi was provided with a platform where he was fortunate to show Palestine to the world as he sees it. Focusing on the small details and the unseen richness that typically are not experienced by locals and tourists who may only spend a couple of hours in Palestine. Additionally, Halabi addressed a number of topics in solo and joint exhibitions across Palestine and internationally including; Bethlehem, Rustic Pearls, and Fracturing Separation exhibitions.
As a photographer, Halabi has the responsibility of an ambassador, manifesting the beauty and richness of his homeland and its wonderful people, as well as showing the burdens and harsh reality that Palestinians go through in their daily life. Capturing moments and sharing them is his passion, it is the fuel that keeps him motivated, knowing that his photos speaks louder than his words.
Halabi was born in Jerusalem and grew up in military occupied, walled in city of Bethlehem, Palestine.
