Who we are Birzeit University Museum is an innovative art space located at the heart of the university campus. It produces and promotes a wide range of contemporary practices as an alternative way to provoke intellectual activity and to counter stagnation. Through its multidisciplinary and cross cutting approach It offers long lasting thematic exhibitions as instrumental tools for critical debate and social change among youth. Guided by its social responsibility and its experimental nature, It develops a model for a museum that is rooted and critically engaged in its local context. It reaches out to the university’s students, staff and faculty, to schools and to the local community with its three pioneering programs: EXHIBITIONS , COLLECTIONS and EDUCATION. Vision To constantly expand the parameters of art practices within the Palestinian context. Mission To produce and promote contemporary art practices as a form of creative knowledge that offers instrumental tools for social change and cultural dialogue; that is rooted within its local context and is critically engaged with its environment, while being in dialogue with the international art scene. من نحن يعد متحف جامعة بيرزيت كمساحة فنية تتواجد في صميم الحرم الجامعي. اذ يقوم بإنتاج والترويج لممارسات فنية عديدة في مجال الفن المعاصر كطريقة بديلة للحث على النشاط الفكري ومجابهة الركود. كما وينظم المتحف معارض طويلة الأمد ذات أساليب متعددة التخصصات كأدوات للنقد والتغيير الاجتماعي في مجتمع الشباب بحيث يقدم من خلالها نفسه كنموذج لمتحف ذو جذور محلية يشارك بطريقة مهمة وأساسية في السياق الفلسطيني، ولتحقيق ذلك يتواصل المتحف مع مجتمع الجامعة من طلاب واساتذة وموظفين ومع المدارس والمجتمع المحلي من خلال ثلاث برامج اساسية هي: المعارض و المقتنيات والتعليم. رؤيتنا توسيع حدود الممارسات الفنية في السياق الفلسطيني بشكل مستمر ومتواصل. مهمتنا إنتاج وترويج الممارسات الفنية المعاصرة بإعتبارها شكلا من أشكال المعرفة الإبداعية التي توفر الأدوات الضرورية لإحداث تغيير اجتماعي؛ وخلق حوار ثقافي ونقدي متجذر في السياق المحلي يجاري في الوقت ذاته المشهد الفني الدولي.
