صالح أبو شندي، فنان فلسطيني ولد في مدينة يافا عام 1942، وهو حاليا يعيش في الأردن. بدأ مسيرته الفنية في الخمسينات من القرن الماضي، ولكن لم تتاح له الفرصة بأن يأخذ مكانته بين رواد الحركة التشكيلية الأردنية. حصل أبو شندي على شهادة البكالوريس في الفنون الجميلة متخصصا في التصوير الزيتي. كما وحصل على شهادة دبلوم في التربية الفنية من جامعة القاهرة عام 1962. حصل على الماجيستر في فن الحفر والطباعة عام ١٩٩٢ وشهادة الدكتوراة في الفنون الجميلة من ولاية غوجارات في الهند. عرف كفنان بنشاطه واجتهاده الدائم، فقد كان لديه العديد من المناصب التعليمية والإدارية في مجال تدريس الفن في الأردن وانعكست نتيجتها بأثر كبير وواضح على جيل كامل من الفنانين الفلسطينيين والأردنيين.
خلال مسيرته الفنية استخدم أبو شندي العديد التقنيات على مدى أكثر من خمسون عام. يحترف استخدام الألوان في أعماله ويترك مشاعره لتفرض نفسها على انتاجات أعماله الفنية. أعماله مليئة بالتعبيرات مصحوبة بطبقات معقدة من الألوان والخطوط والحركة. تتميز أعماله الفنية بالرموز القديمة لتنتج تركيبات تجريدية بصرية وفكرية. أقيم لأبو شندي العديد من المعارض الفردية وشارك في عدة معارض جماعية وبيناليات في الوطن العربي وخارجه.

Saleh Abu Shindi, a Palestinian artist, born in Jaffa in 1942 and is currently living in Jordan.
He began his artistic career in the 50s, but unfortunately didn’t get the recognition he deserves within Jordanian visual arts movement. Abu Shindi obtained a B.A. in Fine Arts specializing in oil painting, and a diploma in Art Education from the College of Fine Arts in Cairo (1962). In 1992, he obtained an M.A. in Printmaking and a Ph.D in Fine Arts from Gujarat, India. In addition to being a prolific artist, he has held numerous teaching and administrative posts in the field of art education in Jordan, leaving a remarkable imprint on an entire generation of Palestinian and Jordanian artists.
Saleh Abu Shindi has explored a range of styles and techniques over his artistic career spanning more than 50 years. Shindi seizes the complexity of colour and lets his emotions dictate the works, his small works are intense bursts of energy and expression with complex layers of colour, line and movement. In his work, a modern sensibility meets ancient shapes to produce visually and intellectually compelling abstract compositions. He has held a number of solo exhibitions and participated in many group exhibitions and biennials in the region and abroad.
