The International Academy of Art, Palestine would like to invite you to attend an artist talk with Glasgow-based artist JACOB KERRAY
Thursday Sep. 8th at 3pm
At IAAP
*******
"I am interested in notions of value and function in art and in particular through painting and storytelling through pictures."
Artist Jacob Kerray is spending a week with the students of IAAP for a wall painting workshop
"Kerray’s work draws on the visual cultures that surround his interests, particularly – football, pro wrestling and historical painting. Taking these as subject matter, he engages with the hierarchies of culture, social distraction, mob mentality, myth and taste."
Kerray describes his paintings as “revisions of redundant fantasies aiming not to reassert heroism, but to present ideology with a sense of dilapidated lameness”.
His recent shows include: The Old World, Glasgow International 2016, Jacob Kerray and George Ziffo, The Mitchell Library, The Jeffrey Room, Glasgow (2016); On Fun + Friction, SWG3, Glasgow, Scotland (2015); Voulez-vue couches abattoir, The Northern Gallery for Contemporary Art, Sunderland, England (2015); CCA, Glasgow, Scotland (2013); This is Tomorrow, Annarumma 404 Gallery, Naples, Italy (2011).
Jacob Kerray lives and works in Glasgow, Scotland.
